Regulatory Bodies
ASA (advertising standard authority) would have to be consulted with before the release of the media product due to the fact that all advertisement within the UK is ran through them as they regulate the advertisements that occur with British media. This is important as any advertisements that are being inputted into the media product need to be checked through them to ensure that they are meeting the set regulations as well as being safe for the target audience. Seeing as the target audience is mainly a young audience the advertisements should be appropriate for them to be able to listen to otherwise it would be against the regulations of the ASA hence the necessary consultation with the ASA to ensure that any and all advertisements in the media product will be appropriate for the target audience.
Ofcom should be consulted as they regulate the radio programmes and decides what can and cannot go on air. They have regulations that are in place in order to protect the younger audience from the use of offensive language and offensive content that they should not be hearing and make sure that no one is treated unfairly within the programme.
This is important as the programme should be appropriate for the young target audience that we have whilst still being able to convey the message that the audience should learn from the programme as it is airing. Hence why it is necessary for the Ofcom to be consulted about the radio programme as they are the people that regulate the radio programmes airing and have different regulations in place for the media product.
