TEENAGERS BEDROOM - DAY
Jingle
This
is Chadwell Heath Radio Station brought to you by the local community for the
local community as well as our sponsors of the NHS, Dominos and Pepsi
A
teenager has returned home and is on their phone scrolling through social media
with very faint music being played within the background and inaudible dialogue
between characters within the setting this will be provided with a narration
over the events occurring within the radio programme.
Narrator
Social
media is a dangerous place. Sometimes it can bring us joy
other
times it can bring us misery and other times it can make us
feel
Lonely. Unfortunately for Jonny there he is about to feel that
loneliness
from a single touch of a screen.
Jonny
starts sobbing as they are looking at their phone and places himself within his
bedroom for no one else to see.
Jonny
(Jonny continues sobbing to
himself in his bedroom)
How
could they do this, how could they right this do they want
me
to be upset, do they want me to feel bad about myself.
Narrator
This
part always breaks my heart seeing how far people fall so easily
within
the pits of despair.
Jonny is now at school the next day
and we are seeing how it is affecting the him there.
Narrator
Usually
Jonny is a kind and enthusiastic kid at school but now he’s hardly speaking he
is isolating himself away from everyone and is doing the bare minimum for the
work he’s meant to do.
The scene
is being accompanied by different noises of people trying to speak with Jonny and
different noises of a background noise being generated from the school.
Now we
are seeing him at a club after school an we are seeing that he is not playing
as well as he usually does and he is not as focused on the game.
Narrator
Here Jonny is usually in his element and he is one of the best
of the players there however since he has seen the comment he has now lost
focus he is not on his game and is usually the cost for why a team now loses a
game.
This is
now being accompanied by the vary of sounds from the games that are being
played with the coach blaring out comments regarding the teams and how they are
playing with at one point them questioning where Jonny is running off to.
Now we
are seeing him with his friends that are out and about after school hanging
around however instead of being able to hang out with them he slowly starts
fading out of conversation as if they do not need him anymore.
Narrator
Now is the time that Jonny usually enjoys best hanging out with
his little friend group and enjoying each other’s company and the wonders of
their surroundings. But now he feels distant and lost almost as if he does not
fit in with them anymore. So, as they will laugh and joke their night away
Jonny will be at home alone and no one would be none the wiser.
Narrator
Now Jonny is just sitting hear alone by himself in despair after
what a single comment had said online. Though it could have been made worst
with a thousand over comments saying the same hurtful things, the same lack of
humanity in their words, the same amount of hurt each comment would cause only
one was needed.
The
audible sounds of Jonny crying can be heard throughout the narrator’s speech
with other audible sounds that could only be described as punches to show how
far Jonny has gone into this state of depression.
Narrator
Most people would not have lasted as long as Jonny has without telling
some one or taking more drastic action taking place. With this in mind the poor
boy suffering through so much does not deserve to happen to anyone no person
should be brought down by a comment such as this and suffer and have their
spark of hope taken away. Perhaps that spark may become a flame.
Jonny’s family member return home and hears what is occurring up
stares and rush to investigate what is going on within Jonny’s room. This is
accompanied by the audible dialogue of them rushing up the stairs and hurrying
as quickly as they can to Jonny’s room.
Jonny’s mother enters the room with
shock on their face as they see their son lying on the floor crying. She embrace Jonny in their arms in order to comfort their son and try and help him
with his issues. Jonny as he is weeping explains to his parents what is going
on.
Jonnys mother
*Gasp* Jonny
Jonny
I don’t understand this. no one wishes to
speak with me on social media and when they do they just say mean and hurtful
comments.
Jonny’s Mother
It's okay son, It's okay I gonna take you to see someone ok
Jonny
No, I do not want to go nooooo!
Jonny’s Mother
It is okay my son its alright they will help you they will help
you to get better.
Narrator
Jonny now sees the Therapist
in order to help him with
his issue and help slowly but surly get him back into the normal flow of things
again.
Dialogue between Jonny and the Therapist can
be heard within the background however the words are not heard by the audience.
Therapist
So, Jonny let’s talk about these comments that have been
plaguing you recently they have been very rude and making you feel bad and
isolated from others is this true
Jonny
Yes, they have.
Therapist
Well Jonny I think I have some methods for you to use.
Narrator
It took a long time but Jonny has slowly made it back from the
pits of despair and has been recovering from its effects. He has now returned
to school with a better attitude than ever and is catching up on the work that
he has missed.
The
audible sounds of Jonny being at school can be faintly in the background as the
events playing out.
Narrator
He has returned to the courts of his club and now once again
dominates over his fellows whilst helping them along the way as well.
The audible
sounds of Jonny playing at his after-school activity club can be faintly heard
within the background as events are occurring.
Narrator
He has even been able to reconnect to the friends that he had
once thought that he had lost.
The audible sounds of Jonny hanging
out with his friends can be faintly heard within the background as the
narrative takes its course.
Narrator
Jonny is a very lucky boy to have made it back to his normal
life and return to the happiness that he knew. Unfortunately, there are many
unlike Jonny who are unable to escape from the pits of despair let alone
survive it. Social media is a complicated place where opioin and information is
currently shifting all the time leaving people quite confused as to what it is
truly saying. It is sometimes good where people are able to communicate with
one another freely and speak about topics freely whilst other times saying the
wrong thing can have dire consequences all because people do not agree with
what is being said. To all that listen I urge to remain safe online and if you
or someone you know are experiencing such loneliness caused by social media I
ask you to contact your local therapist to help you through rough times. To
learn more about the dangers that social media posses tune in next time as we
discuss another of its dangers. Chadwell heath radio station the radio station
made for the community by the community.
